Building Resilience in Times of Stress: Highlights from the Community Resiliency Model Webinar
In a recent CIRH Academy webinar, Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSW, introduced participants to the Community Resiliency Model (CRM), a set of six practical wellness skills designed to help individuals manage stress, regulate their nervous systems, and build resilience.
These science-backed tools offer accessible, easy-to-practice tools that are especially valuable for those working with refugees and forcibly displaced individuals. Participants explored techniques such as grounding, visualization, and tracking sensations, and learned how to apply these tools in both their personal and professional lives, including how to support children experiencing emotional overwhelm.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing gratitude for the session’s relevance, clarity, and emotional impact:
“I already shared the iChill app with my Ukrainian clients.”
“Everything is applicable to our work...especially for the different student and family populations we have the joy of serving.”
“Grounding techniques and helping people feel heard—sometimes that’s incredibly important.”
