Family Separation is not a new tool used by autocratic governments and is once again in the news in the context of brutal immigration practices.
This Legal Aid Association of California-hosted program will review the newly enacted Family Preparedness Act (AB 495) and how it supports our locally developed Childcare Safety Plan, which enables families to provide for the care of their children if they are not available. Please join our panel of attorneys who first developed the Childcare Safety Plan in 2017 to learn about this free toolkit which is shared by Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito and Alameda Counties.
Learn about various community efforts to assist families with these plans and how you can get involved. We’ll talk about our "Train the Trainers" model working with schools, NGOs, healthcare staff, and community volunteers to provide support to families through trusted sources.
